Time to man up!
« on: September 22, 2020, 05:32:45 AM »
Hi my fellow rebooters!

I'm a man from the Netherlands, 43 years of age.
I have a girlfriend and and a son age 3.

In my professional life I work 3 days a week at a printing company as a order manager. The other 2 days I spent on my own business as a graphic designer.
Sports in my life are tennis, running, padel and a bit of mountainbiking. Is also like watch Netflix series with my girlfriend en we both read on our e-reader in bed every night which is relaxing.

Unfortunately watching porn on a regular basis has been something I enjoy for many years now. It started out I think when I was 14 something like that. Buying dirty magazines and watching softcore erotica on tv. Thank god we had no internet back then otherwise my addiction would be much greater now I think.

But form age 14 to now 43 are 29 years with porn in my life. That's a long time!
Since my son was born 3 years ago I knew I had to change this habit. I want to be a dad he can be proud of!
I noticed it affected my relationship to. Sex with y girlfriend was getting boring and getting an orgasm was difficult.
Also the pornsessions were giving me brief reflief on the long run it gave my stress, anxiety and feeling down on myself.
Also I was feeling tired a lot.

So a couple of weeks ago I bought the e-book Your brain on porn by Gary Wilson.
I immediately recognized a lot of stuff he was telling in the book.
I bought the book on the 25th of August and I haven't watched porn since then. So that's 28 days now! I guess I can be a bit proud of that!

If I look back on all the past years the triggers for watching porn were getting off, stress relief and thinking it would make me feel better and relaxed.
Of course in the long run it just does the opposite and I see that very clearly now.

The last couple of weeks there was a lot of tension in my body but it's starting to get less now. Also my energy level is getting up. Those two things I am grateful for today.

Well guys that's my story. I hope it helps some of you, it sure helps me writing about it!

Greets,
J

Welcome G living to the group. Like you PMO has been in my life for decades.  I read the YBOP book and it was an incredible eye-opener to the reality of my faulty reward circuit and the high of a dopamine rush searching for PMO.

Amazing work on the streak for your reboot.

Please continue to post your progress so that others like myself can learn and support each other.
I’ve tried to quit 1000 times...all I need to do is stop myself for today. Moment by moment if I have to.

Thanks for the reply 3rdprecept!
I must say the reboot is going great at the moment! I'm starting to relax more and more and really see the benefits of this reboot!
I wonder how it will be when I'm 3 months in...

Welcome aboard, Get Busy. If I did the math correctly, you've made it past 30 days. Congrats on that achievement, and keep up the great work!

Welcome! Thats quite an impressive streak youve got so far. Now try to double it!
You will soon see a myriad of benefites that will make your life so much better, you will be abe to enjoy everything more. Your son will definately notice his dad is more awsome, and your girlfriend will definately see youve become more of a sexual beast than before (I bet she will love that!)
Well done!!
Un-fuck your life, quit porn now! Today!

Thanks for the replies people!
Still going strong! No relapse yet and I'm not thinking about it that much anymore so that's a good sign I think.
25th of november is my 3 months mark and what I'm aiming for.

Energy level is better and less tension in my body are the two benefits I'm experiencing the most right now.

Fapping at pixels on a screen is a phrase I keep in the back of my mind and how a stupid thing to do that is...
It helps!

good going on the streak, busyliving. Sounds like you have a great life and a really healthy attitude. Giving up porn seems like a no brainer. Look forward to seeing your progress
