Question about long flatline
« on: May 04, 2014, 09:09:21 PM »
GABE, after each time I have sex with an orgasm, my dick is dead for anywhere between 1 week to 2-3 weeks. Then slowly penis feels more alive and heavy, but still I wouldnt call it a libido.  Morning wood is random, sometimes its there sometimes its missing.  I guess I'm derailing my reboot by having sex.

Should I abstain from any kind of orgasm including sex for a few months until libido is back for a while before slowly introducing sex with orgasm?
And am I stuck in a flatline because I didnt abstain and give my brain and/or penis a break for long enough?

Ive been rebooting for just over a year. The longest I went was 120 days without orgasm, but continued to edge without using porn maybe like once a week, so I guess thats what made these 120 days streak useless because it wasnt a complete abstinence.

Please reply, I need to choose the right strategy, Ive been trying to reboot for too long. thank you in advance.

P.S. Last time I had sex was 14 days ago, only 2 days ( day 7 and today ) I felt a 3/10 libido. All other days the libido was 0/10. This short streak there was no dick touching, stroking, none, not even one stroke. Previous times I was staying away from porn, now I will stay away from all kinds of stimulation for the libido to come back. I know I can have sex, I dont have anxiety anymore, I just need to feel my libido thats all.

Hopefully this is the last loop before a success story.

I experienced the same thing through months 6 to 9. Through months 9 to 15 I still felt a slight drop in libido following an orgasm but I made sure I spread my orgasms out for those months. I wanted to slowly introduce orgasm back into my life, didn't want to overstimulate things. This seemed to work well for me.

This is completely normal for even perfectly healthy guys. You will not always wake up with morning wood. Usually has to do with coming out of REM sleep (rapid eye movement). If you wake up to an alarm or anything like that you might not have morning wood. Even if you don't you might not have it. As long as you get it sometimes that indicates your penis works.

Well, you are not "derailing" your reboot by having sex. You may however, be over stimulating a fragile reward circuit, or a brain is not yet ready to handle consistent orgasms. We are not sure why this whole "orgasm causing flatlines" thing happens. It may be something to do with deep changes in the hypothalamus, but no research on that yet. All we know is that avoiding orgasm has appeared to be beneficial to a lot of rebooters. You certainly are "rewiring" when you have sex, so that is a good thing. It just might be a good idea to avoid orgasm for a little bit longer for you.

Try Karezza, which is sex without orgasm. It is slow, gentle, passionate sex where you stop before reaching orgasm. This, if you are able to do it with your partner, can give you the benefits of rewiring, without blasting your brain with the neurochemical punch an orgasm provides. Or, keep doing what you are doing, having an orgasm every few weeks, and see if your flatlines will get shorter and shorter in length. That is what happened for me.

I would go a little longer without O, while continuing to rewire if possible. It is up to you how long you will go no O.

That streak was definitely not "useless". However, I would stop edging immediately. I cannot give you a for sure answer but it is possible you just need a little more time for some brain changes to recover. We have no idea how much the edging hurt your progress.

You may be getting close to being rebooted. You have done great so far, just stay strong and patient. Give it a little more time and keep tracking progress.

Hope that helps
