Hey new here
« on: November 26, 2019, 02:25:08 PM »
Hey guys I’m new here. Found this group by accident. Tried to quit porn/masturbation on my own many times with no success. Figured this is a good option for me. I was late to work this morning because of it. Plus I’m foggy upstairs too just like most guys report. Just want a better life for myself that’s productive and feel more in charge of myself. Thanks that’s all I have.

Hi Gusser1. Glad you're in the forum. Hope that you get the support that we all need and that you find a way to stop PMO that suits you. Advice: don't delay...the physical, mental and social consequences of the addiction are horrendous and will get worse. Read YBOP. It is reassuring, informative and challenging. All the best.

Thanks for the welcome. Just trying to do better. I made it last nite w/o looking and trying new coping skills. Being “reborn” is difficult and I opted to start journaling. I plan to focus where I’m going instead of living where I was....

Hi Gusser, yes, keep trying! We’ve all been there and it’s difficult. Is there anything useful you can learn from your slip at the weekend? eg behaviours or feelings just beforehand that you can use as warning signs in the future that you need to get away from the pc/laptop or even get out of the house.
Best of luck!

Hi Gusser.
Maybe you could reconsider the 'falling' concept? Fallen from others'/God's/your own ideals or values? None of us can ever 'match up'. And...we don't have to. Perhaps (like me at least) you've relapsed into the psychological safety zone that the addiction makes us think is so attractive. I for one don't see that you have fallen. Let's not judge ourselves or one another. We are here primarily because we need to learn to rely on one another.

Yup guys thanks for the input, habits need to change. I’m attempting to notice triggers as they come up. I’m attempting to pull back in certain situations that cause stress and attempting more “mindfulness” I need to get out of bed when I wake up as opposed to laying there with the phone. Also as a practicing Christian in the Catholic tradition, it’s becoming tremendously embarrassing to keep confessing the same thing constantly. So far I’m on day 5 and the brain fog is lifting. Feel a bit irritable, after awhile I know it will pass, after another week. (It usually does). But I feel good about finding this site, and once again guys thanks!

Good job getting back on track!  The quest is all about today and tomorrow with the goal of moving forward to improve our lives.  You noted confession-I have found that Psalm 51 is a great way to cleanse the soul and get a new start.  Anyway, keep going and best wishes moving forward.
