I have little trouble going 10+ days after a relapse (if i withstand chaser effect),
but after that urges get so strong. Any scientific reason or is it just me?

Not so sure about science, but it isn't just you.

If you want to know what is going on, I'd do an evaluation of triggers.  They can be sexual, non-sexual, stress factors, emotional, familial, social, whatever.  Maybe you're thinking about an ex, maybe you're checking out instagram, maybe you're going to a place that arouses you and reminds you of a certain kind of porn, who knows.  For a long time I had a really hard time with weekends, because on weekends I'd go places where I'd see lots of families and then go home alone and have lots of time to dwell and wallow.  The work week was relatively easy.  I kept up with a pace of relapsing just on weekends for a while, and it helped me build strength.

Just standing outside your situation and saying "I'm being triggered right now" can do wonders.

If 10-14 days is what you can do, then have as many 10-14 day streaks as you can back to back, with as little "down time" between them as possible.  It will do wonders rewiring.

Nothing is "just you."   You should probably see people as cells in the body of humanity.  We put a lot of emphasis on our individuality, which is OK, but, in reality, we are all pretty much clones of each other.  Sure, our environments lead us all in different directions, but the beginning software and hardware of the brain:  pretty much identical.

There is no science on the ten day thing.   Quitting porn is about retraining your brain, exercising your brain, not to use every day, not to want to use every day.   It is a process, not an event.  Do I want to use porn, daily, every day, as a means of achieving a dopamine high?  Probably not a good question because this far out, years, no.  But, from time to time do I wish to use it do to that? Yeah.  Thanks to DeltaFosB, I will never forget it can be used to do that.  You need to think of quitting porn as training for a marathon.  You are not ready the first day, but, train long enough, and you will finish it.  There is a point in your future, if you train enough, where you get up in the morning and you don't want it, don't miss it, don't think about it.

You need to have a "I am quitting forever" attitude. The whole "I am seeing how long I can go" attitude, not especially helpful.  If you are here to make a change, then get determined to make it. Only way to overcome an addiction but....this addiction can be overcome.  I predict you will overcome it.

Thanks,

It happens to me too. On my first time around I got to 13 days PMO free and failed. I was pretty disappointed. Now I'm lucky if I get past day 3 because I'm stuck in this chaser effect cycle and plagued by rationalizations and triggers right now. I also end up on this weird autopilot where I'm watching myself go look at porn and I know I shouldn't but it's happening anyway. I'm not sure if there is any scientific reason beyond the general info that is here on the forum and YBOP. This all affects us differently. But you aren't alone in the troubles.

When you feel triggered, just stop for a moment, breathe, and think. Be aware of what is happenning, of what your bdy is telling you. is your hands shaking, or breathing like a dog? those are sinthoms of anxiety, it's your brain claiming for "that". So, if you keep calm, and throw away that poison thinking, you can survive the urgue.

Everyone is different and responds differently to time. In my case it was the first week or so after a relapse that the urges were strongest, as were the withdrawal symtpoms. They gradually fade either way. Dont get stuck in the `is this normal?` frame of thinking. The bottom line is that if you stick to this reboot, you will recover. Thats not just wishful thinking, either; thats scientific fact!
Un-fuck your life, quit porn now! Today!
