PIED reversed!

It was May 15th of 2017 that I first started taking steps to reverse my PIED.  During that same time I was also testing various antidepressants and ADHD meds so it?s hard to tell exactly how long it took to correct it since a lot of those meds had sexual side effects.  I started seeing improvement after the first month, but things weren?t quite where I wanted them to be so i kept at it.

I had multiple relapses over that time.  Some worse than others.  Some of the relapses didn?t seem to make any real difference but some definitely did.

I really think quitting porn isn?t enough.  At least it?s not the most effective way to improvement.  There should be an active effort to place your sexuality back within your own body.

This is obviously not true for everyone but for me since most of the porn i watched was all women, when I?d PMO I?d be fantasizing about stuff that I wasn?t apart of.  I seemed to make the most progress not when I?d given up porn for a long time, but when I told myself ?OK, from now on when I do MO or have sex I?m only going to think about my own body doing things.?

Honestly, I haven?t given up porn.  I?m on Fetlife again, and the chat rooms where my friends share dirty images, and even check pornhub occasionally.  While I?m spending waaaaaaaaay less time on those sites than I used to, I?m also being more mindful about how I use them.  Take this with a huge grain of salt, but I actually suspect that using porn, particularly POV stuff, can be beneficial to the process for some people.  I know some of us have a harder time with the addiction side of it, so that?s probably not a great idea for them.  But some of my thoughts on that came from reading this: https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/how-therapists-treat-young-men-porn-induced-erectile-dysfunction-2017

Anyway, I just wanted to be another person saying that it absolutely is possible to reverse PIED if you?re willing to stick with it.

Good luck!

It does (limiting porn use) work for some people. However, "gradual" may not work for you if your porn use has led to addiction processes in your brain.
https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/why-doesnt-moderation-work-with-porn-use

watching POVs or limiting your porn use to anything (pictures, sexting etc.) works only if you are not addicted. kind of not appropriate suggestion for this forum since this is the place for porn addicts who experienced physical brain changes due to porn addiction.

article you linked does not mention if those people recovered from PIED by actually jerking off and watching porn for 10 seconds every minute. that sounds... how about having a girlfriend? no no no, lets try something easy. lets do something that is easily accessible and instantly rewarding. jerking off but instead of watching porn all the time lets watch it just for 10 seconds every minute? you are clearly not addicted if you think this can help you quit porn or if you think you dont actually have to quit porn at all, just reduce it. you are on many medications that can affect your erections, mood and what not. maybe you did not had PIED. actually if watching POV type of porn helped you reverse your PIED, then you did not had PIED in the first place.

you sound like just another guy who is willing to go the distance when it comes to confusing people and giving their brains what they desperately gasp for, an idea for maintaining their easy instant reward circuit while recovering from it. do you know how many people crumbled, succumbed to their huge cravings and relapsed just because of something you just wrote? i know i did it few times. i was open to any idea that would get my dopamine hit back. if this works for you keep it to yourself because if you ask anyone who had PIED (no confusion if its because of meds or porn), they will all tell you and confirm that dumping all porn forever is the only way to go. its not fun like your idea, there is no easy instant reward, its a process but somehow everything in life worth striving for is like that.

Anyway, I just wanted to be another person saying that it absolutely is possible to reverse PIED if you?re willing to stick with it.
you are not sticking to nothing, you are still checking porn hub and exchanging explicit material with your friends.

i dont know why people keep coming back here on forum where there are porn addicts and try to give advice of actually watching porn... i wonder if some weekend warriors go to heroin addicts forum and preach how once a month is okay if you are mindful about it.

For those who are new to this process, please understand that this post is ridiculously untrue. When guys watch porn they always picture themselves in the scenes. If you are truly an addict, then watching anything porn-related or even bikini-related will activate neural pathways in your brain that will cause real life to become less interesting, including minor little things like motivation, access to emotions, self-control, self-trust, and about a gazillion others. If you think you're addicted then you can no longer expose yourself to porn ever again, unless you're okay with living a mediocre existence (which this poster is probably doing).

Also, regardless of the neurochemistry, watching the porn that the websites put out these days is always going to be awful for you. It teaches you to get your jollies through watching others do nasty shit to one another. It's bad for your psyche, your spirituality, and your self-esteem. Stay the hell away from it.

Shame on you for posting this. Either you're some sort of troll who has nothing better to do with his time then, for whatever weird reason, fuck with people who are addicted, or you're a man who is in denial about his porn use. Or, like someone else said, you were never addicted in the first place, which would make it odd that you'd even be aware of a website like this. The majority of us came here because we had no other place to turn.

This comes off harsh but I don't want people to be misinformed.
