Understanding the problem and how to fix it
« on: March 14, 2017, 10:59:27 AM »
I will keep this short and simple for others convenience. I had a family member introduce me to porn when I was 7 and I'm 18 now. When I was in my pre-teens I watched it like once a year. Once I was in my teens my use slowly escalated to the point where I watched it everyday. I felt guilty and tried to stop. Over the years I was able to reduce it to once every two weeks or every other week. When I started having sex I wasn't what I'd thought it would be and I felt like I had weak erections. I thought it was because of anxiety but then I read about porn induced erectile dysfunction. I stopped watching it over time. I've been clean for about three months. However, I still have somewhat weak erections and it worries me. Overtime my porn use escalated to the point where I started watching things I normally would not watch and normal porn did not get me excited anymore. Like I said I was able to stop but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to stop. Maybe I wasn't addicted to porn at all since it was easy to stop. However, I've had a lot of trouble trying to stop masturbathing which is part of the rebootal process I've read. I use to do it a couple times a week but I've only been able to last 3 weeks without doing it. When I tried to stop watching porn and had a relapse it actually gave me more confidence because once I watched it again I felt a bit more excited than I normally did and I knew that my effort at abstinence was working since my brain was changing. A couple things I know for sure: my erections are weak and weren't what they were when I was younger, I've stopped all porn usage and it wasn't as hard as I thought which makes me think if I was really addicted to it or not or if I just got bored with it which means my brain is super desensitized, and I'm having problems with the rebootal process because I can't hold off long without masturbathing. I suffer from premature ejaculation and then I get soft during sex...I was able to keep going only once when I was having sex I trying little by little. Does anyone have any experience or advice on what my problem is and how to fix it? I'm planning on visiting a psychologist.

Masturbating slows down the reboot. I would just continue to reboot, abstaining from all porn, mastubation, and orgasm for a while longer.
