Why are the urges getting stronger not weaker?
« on: October 06, 2016, 06:34:42 PM »
Hi All,

Quick question - i've been in hard mode for 50-days, the first two-weeks were full of urges and then I went into a flatline for five-weeks but over the last few days i've started having morning wood, feeling good and major cravings.

I'm concerned about these cravings, it feels like my brain is still in shock, I thought this would of passed by now.

Thanks

Walt

Focus them on something safe, sex, masturbation. Or keep living through "hard mode" if you like.
Doesn't take much to trigger a break from flatline, particularly if you don't have ed.

Thanks for the reply Walter.

I'm sticking with hardmode for the 90-days, hopefully this speeds up recovery.

Do you still fantasize when you are triggered? Do you look at any arousing imagery? Do you edge or touch yourself without masturbating or orgasming?

All of it will reactivate the pathways you want to weaken through abstinense. Thoughts and fantasies will trigger dopamine and reverse the wanted effect because addiction comes from being used to heightened dopamine levels. The best thing you can do is limit any arousing thoughts throughout the period, as best as you can.

Hope it helps. Good luck!

Cheers yesyes1234.

I have been masturbation free for the entire reboot, nor have I edged or touched myself.

I have had a few fantasies pop into my mind and have tried my best to not engage them.

The only thing I have done is this, twice I have tuned to a particular tv channel because I think the presenter is sexy, that's it, hand on heart for 50-days.

These cravings have coincided with morning wood, everyday for the last week, before that I was flatlining.

So basically I now feel good, have morning wood and cravings.

I'd say I could mo without porn no problem, but the chaser affect could be to much.

Hey harpoon, it actually sounds like you are getting back to normal. Remember, we are sexual beings - it's okay to have cravings. And you WILL have them. It's all in how you go about dealing with them.

I've been PMO free for about 50 days now, but I still edge to feeling a lot. It's harder to stop than anything. So about 15 days ago, I finally caved and MO'd to just feeling. It turns out that I'm not ready for that. It didn't feel right, and I'm back to no MO for the rest of my 90 days.

I'd say to try to keep clean for the rest of your reboot, and then use your natural sexual desires to get out in the world and meet some real people to interact with. For most, the point of the reboot is to have normal, healthy sex with a partner. It sounds like you are getting closer to that everyday.

Put your sexual energy into positive and constructive activities and you'll become a better person and eventually find a partner. Good luck!

Yeah, could sound like you were starting to get back to normal.

A thing to consider is wether or not the cravings are that obejctifying, dirty porntype or more normal, healthy desires? Or are they moving towards the latter?

I guess this behaviour is all to close to my old behaviour, I mean the process is the same ie having a look and getting a release of dopamine it's  just not to explicit images/videos.

So lesson learned, let those neural pathways die.

Thanks for the replies ppl ;)

It's nice to see someone abstaining on around the same days as me.

on a tip, i don't think those addicted pathways will ever go, they will always be there, but it gets SO much easier as time goes on, one day you'll be able to dismiss them like they are absolutely nothing.

first two weeks when i got thoughts, my whole body would shake, i'd sweat up, my pulse would be screaming. now, i still get a bit of that, but i can live through it, keep at it brother.
