Porn Addiction / Survey being conducted on problematic porn use.
« on: August 15, 2019, 10:32:43 PM »
Hey Nation,

There's a new Monash University student survey being conducted on problematic porn use. I'd greatly appreciate it if y'all took some time to fill it out. Below is a few details and the link! Much love.

The  study aims to investigate how pornography affects people in different ways. More specifically, the study aims to compare the experiences of people who experience problems related to their pornography use (problematic users) versus people who don’t (non-problematic users). As a participant, you will be asked to complete a series of confidential and anonymous questions regarding your use of pornography, its effects on you, as well as other questions regarding your psychological well-being. The survey should take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.

What up Nation,

Please consider helping my friends in New Zealand who are making a documentary on porn's impact on children. Watch this trailer and you'll see really quick that they have hearts of gold full of passion and simply want to help others. At the very least consider sharing this link with others:

Gabe Deem
The Neuroscience of Porn Addiction and the Necessity of Fellowship

After hitting rock bottom in porn addiction, Gabe went searching for answers (step 1, 4). While on the road to recovery he stumbled across profound insights from the field of neuroscience, and found communities full of thousands of other people on the same journey. Inspired by their stories, and realizing the desperate need for accurate information, he will share his own story and insights in hopes of helping others. (step 11 & 12, and #5 SCA Tradition)

For info see:

Hey Rebooters,
Wanted to share with you a great new podcast called AllHailKale Beat Your Brain. I was fortunate enough to be interviewed for it and got to explain some of the neuroscience behind porn addiction & sexual dysfunction around @23:30 mark.
Some other great info is in it and even a calming meditation exercise at the end you may find helpful to incorporate into your reboot.

Porn Addiction / Great new article by Rob Weiss
« on: December 19, 2018, 01:51:09 PM »
We've long said on Reboot Nation that not all porn addicts had "pre-existing issues" that drove them to use porn, but rather developed "issues" after chronically using porn through their adolescence. I have good news, more and more therapists are starting to catch up to reality and acknowledge that "opportunity addiction" is a real thing. first wrote about this back in 2011 here:

Which also links to my video presentation for the 2015 Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health conference titled Porn Addiction is NOT Sex Addiction:

Well known sexual addiction therapist Rob Weiss recently wrote this piece acknowledging this new type of addict. This is great news that more and more therapists are realizing that porn can in fact cause problems, rather than porn use simply being the "symptom" of a pre-existing issue:

Keep truckin rebooters! Much love

What Up Nation!?

My homies over at Fight the New Drug let me share my story with them, in hopes of raising awareness on porn's potential negative effects. They are passionate about pointing people to love, rather than pursuing pixels on a screen that can never love you back.

Short 2 min video:

Also... they just released a 3 part documentary that I highly recommend checking out. You can view it for free for the rest of November here:

Much love

Hey Nation,

I was recently interviewed by Robert Weiss for his podcast Sex, Love, and Addiction 101. I found it to be a productive conversation and he is really interested in bringing more awareness and help to the reboot community. He has been a mainstream voice around sexual addiction for a long time, and it was great to finally share some of the main points surrounding the topic of rebooting and how a new generation of addicts do not always have pre-existing issues that drove them to porn, but rather had unlimited access and chronically used a supernormal stimulus and then developed issues.

If interested, give it a listen:

Porn Addiction / Inappropriate Private Messages
« on: May 24, 2018, 09:19:46 AM »
Hey Nation! It has repeatedly been brought to my attention that some of you are getting inappropriate and offensive personal messages. Myself and the mods have done our best to remove any members who engage in this behavior and we will continue to do so with your help. Please continue to let us know if you get odd/inappropriate messages, and we will continue to take action accordingly.

The only way to stop this behavior before it happens, rather than reacting to it after the fact would be to make new members have to comment a couple times before unlocking private message privileges. This is not something I want to do, as many people sign up who just want to ask a quick question about recovery, or desperately need help, or journalist/producers who want to quickly connect for a story.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions on the matter please comment. I hope everyone has a great day!

Keep truckin' and Much Love.

Hey Nation,

Was fortunate enough to do an interview with Dr Suzanne Phillips on her podcast Psych Up Live. We discussed porn addiction, physical and mental symptoms, the reboot process, and better sex ed, among other things. If you want to give it a listen it is about 45 minutes if you skip the breaks.

Hope everyone has a great porn-free day! Keep truckin Nation and much love.

Shared my story quickly, and talked about what Sex ed is missing. Raised awareness in Dublin, Ireland. Hope some of you can find it helpful. About 18 mins:

Much love and keep truckin!

Porn Addiction / Have any questions for myself or Dr. Andrew Doan
« on: January 25, 2018, 06:22:11 PM »
Hey Nation,

Tomorrow I am recording a new show with Dr. Andrew Doan, a brilliant neuroscientist and expert on digital media addictions, where we  will discuss research on behavioral addictions (primarily porn/gaming). One of my goals with the show will be to separate fact from fiction, in regards to what people are experiencing, and the science behind our experiences.

We will have a brief Q&A section of the show where we will pull questions off Reboot Nation and other forums or social media. Tomorrow we will be discussing Addiction in general, whether behavioral addictions are real addictions, and directing a podcast that was skeptical of gaming addiction.

So, please ask any question you'd like and we if we're able we will answer it on the show. Much Love,

Porn Addiction / Your Brain On Porn the book AVAILABLE in Arabic!!
« on: December 13, 2017, 02:46:01 PM »
What's up Nation,

My number one goal with Reboot Nation is to help people. And my strategy for achieving that was to focus on raising awareness. I have good news. The book Your Brain On Porn is now available in arabic! I've received several messages over the last couple of years asking for translations of helpful material into arabic, and the YBOP book is the most informative piece of work on the subject in my opinion. Would you please share this link/information with anyone you may know that could benefit or help get the word out. Here is a direct link -

Hey Nation,

I was interviewed for this piece on raising awareness on porn-induced ED. Noah Church and myself were fortunate enough to share a little bit about our story. While I have my issues with it (1: The warning on Gary's TEDx talk is bullshit, as his talk isn't even about masturbation. 2: Left out the fact that guys with PIED cannot masturbate without porn, ruling out "performance anxiety. 3: Left out all research correlating porn use to sexual problems/case studies documenting young guys recovering from pied/de by rebooting etc...) It will hopefully raise awareness and start more discussion about what we're experiencing in communities such as this. Give it a read..big win for awareness of porn-induced dysfunction and potential negative effects.

Hey Nation!

Just posted a new vid to the Reboot Nation YouTube channel. It is my full presentation from a couple months ago at the Coalition To End Sexual Exploitation summit in Houston, Tx. I spoke on why porn is a public health issue that needs to be taken seriously, and shared my story. Noah Church also spoke alongside me, as well as a wonderful friend Haley Halverson. Noah dug into the science and Haley covered the dark side of porn that can get abusive and aggressive and how that can lead to violence in some cases. Overall it was an AWESOME conference that was one of the most powerful, influential, and memorable weeks of my life. Please SHARE this video on social media, and share it personally with anyone who may benefit from it. I love you guys. Y'all have a great day and keep truckin!

Porn Addiction / BBC 5 LIVE Radio - Thank you
« on: January 13, 2017, 06:43:31 AM »
Morning Nation,

Just did a interview with BBC 5 Live radio (probably the first time I woke up at 430am in my life haha) and wanted to say a big thank you to Steve and to Simon for going on the show and sharing your experiences. It is so encouraging to see you guys improving and sharing your story to help others.

To anyone who is lurking this page or "new", make sure you check out our YouTube channel as it has a lot of basic info to get you started. Here is a interview I did sharing my story -

and here is a video about the good ol basics!

And the scientific info I talked about that helped me tremendously can by found at (It is linked at the top of this page  8) )

If you're a partner of someone struggling/addicted/recovering, you can find support and wisdom in this section -

For articles specific to women and rebooting, stake a gander on this page -

Much Love Nation and I hope the best for everyone.

Porn Addiction / ANY UK based Rebooter Willing to Share Your Story?
« on: October 12, 2016, 01:55:16 PM »
EDIT: You can remain anonymous for the radio interview.

Hey Nation, I've been contacted several times in the last week from BBC Radio and other producers/journalists looking for anyone in/near the UK who would be willing to speak with them and or share their story of porn addiction/porn-induced erectile dysfunction. Please comment here, or message me, if you would be willing to speak up and raise awareness of the problem.

Our voices and stories can help others avoid the pain we've experienced. Helping others can also help you have a purpose bigger than ourselves behind rebooting. Speaking up about PIED was one of the toughest but most rewarding things I've done in my life, and I encourage everyone to at least consider it, but of course I completely understand choosing not to. In any case, thanks for being here and I hope the best for you all.

Much Love
