On week four of no P now, I've MO'd to sensation ALONE three times so far during this period, just about once a week. No more death grip, lots of lube and slow loose stroke. My problem is that I have next to no sensation on my shaft, but my tip is still very sensitive.

As for effect on the reboot it hasn't seemed to affect my penis life too much if any at all. Haven't had any chaser effects at all, nor am I craving P in the slightest. Spontaneous erections still occur every now and then and I do manage to get 90% hard with the slow M. Wondering what and how sensitive a normal penis should be...?

Hey guys,

Sorry to bring up an old thread but this was one of the better threads on sensitivity that I've managed to find. (My original problem that led me to this site and YBOP was PIED, not very severe, could still maintain ~60-70% erections during sex, but I'm beginning to think that this was due to over masturbation and death grip rather than P)

Starting week 3 of no P, haven't had any cravings for P at all during this time. MO'd 3 times total in this time span, to sensation alone of course. Once each of the first two days, and once and the start of week 2. Haven't really felt a chaser effect either. Penis life has been great this whole time, almost constant random boners and semi's, as well as frequent morning wood, though that goes away relatively fast. My GF has been sneaky and sent me nudes when she was drunk, but I've sort of conditioned myself so that my brain jumps from that to memories of her in real life, don't think that's entirely considered a relapse, if at all?

I'm really beginning to think that hardmode nofap is the cause of the flatline, as it sends the message that you don't need your penis essentially, and while it may be necessary for more severe cases, if you can ensure it's infrequent and to sensation only, it seems to help with rewiring the brain? A self brainwashing maybe?

Will be meeting back up with my GF early February, will see how the sex goes, and report back on this!

Some even argue it's better to start off just masturbating to no porn for a bit and ease into nofap: http://www.yourbrainrebalanced.com/forum/threads/the-orgasm-reboot-a-new-approach-controversial.2416/

But, then there's the chaser effect to worry about, too: http://yourbrainonporn.com/what-chaser

In other words, approach it like a scientist. Play around with different styles, I guess. It might slow your reboot a bit by including orgasm, but what's the rush if you can't do it without it?

I'd welcome other perspectives, though.  8)

This has probably been the best response I've seen on the topic haha. I was worried since it's such a grey area, but penis life and everything seems to still be fine after that session, so I'm not sure about the benefits of cold turkey nofap in general. Flatline seems to result from a too long period of non usage imo. But who knows.

As for the chaser effect, it was definitely there but not something I couldn't ignore, it wasn't an overwhelming urge or anything.

Day 8 of the reboot. Been off P the entire time, have gotten just about 0 cravings for it at all oddly enough.

HOWEVER, I MO'd to sensation alone the first and second days of this, and just gave in and did it again today. How detrimental to the reboot is this? All three times have been to sensation alone no artificial stimuli.

As far as penis life has been, flatline the first 5 days, and then constant raging erections and semis the next three until I couldn't take it and MO'd again today.

How shit is my progress looking right now?

If you can get real sex why PMO or MO? Do the real thing!

Unfortunately... long distance gf... I'll see her for a week in February then not again until next September. And I know that sexting and nudes are off the table too  :'( Ah well, might as well just take the chance and time to do a full reboot instead.

Thanks again guys

That said, it sounds to me like your coming up with a few excuses so as to not have to commit to a reboot. If you're here, you have a problem. Why not just commit for 90 days and do it right? The half-ass approach usually just means no real progress. A hard mode 90 day reboot will do you good.

Good luck buddy

Hey man, appreciate the advice. I'm not sure, but I haven't had any inclination to go and watch P whatsoever since I've gone off it yesterday, probably too soon to tell withdrawal symptoms. I'll definitely try a period of nofap for sure, and depending on how that goes will see if I continue or not! So far I feel that it's more a craving to simply O and release that tension, but even then there's no inclination to watch porn and I empty my head with relative ease even if M.

Hey guys,

Starting my reboot today, quit porn, but I don't think my case is that severe in terms of P addition. It's more out of boredom that I used to frequently PMO, I still get spontaneous erections, I can still occasionally have sex, but have problems keeping it up more often than not.

Basically I was wondering if slow, more realistic MO would affect progress? I'm referring to that during PMO I used to use a death grip and go ridiculously fast just to get to the O asap. Didn't even really get that much pleasure from the whole thing, quite literally just bored and wanted the release.

If I use copious amounts of lube and a softer more natural grip all while forcing all thoughts of P from my mind and only focusing on the sensation I'm receiving while repeatedly telling myself that this is good, old method was bad. Would this work as a sort of self-brainwashing or would it set back progress?

Oh I'm also a heavy heavy stoner, cut back now but I still go through about a quarter in a week or so. Would that have any affect as well? I know a lot of people who are smoking the same amount as I do or more, but do not have this problem.

Thanks guys!

Hi all, starting my recovery today, few thoughts on the process after going through YBOP and everything.

The main point as I understand it is that Intentional porn absolutely must be removed from every aspect of your life.

With that in mind, I'm wondering if forcefully rewiring your brain would work. What I mean is that MO should not be excluded, (no offence to nofappers). Personally I had a deathgrip and went ridiculously fast when I PMO'd. As of today I tried MO using only a very very soft grip with copious amounts of lube and a more realistic pace. Simulates a real mouth or vagina far far better. Ended up being one of the best sessions I've had in a while.

Thoughts of P did pop in my head, but I immediately banished them through force of will and only focused on sensation, all the while reminding myself that this sensation felt good, even if it didn't necessarily feel so. The main issue when I was PMO was that I was only focused on the P and O, and not the sensation during the M, as such I'm guessing my penis became desensitised from a combination of that and the deathgrip.

I guess my point is this, is it possible to brainwash yourself into rewiring? Theoretically nothing on YBOP says that strictly MO is bad per say, and release is a natural part of life. Should this type of MO be detrimental towards recovery or not? After all, the idea behind rewiring is still just telling your brain that this is good, and that's bad. Realistic simulation repeatedly reinforcing the idea should only help, right?
