Hello Everyone,

I have been trying to quit porn for some time now. Porn has really devastating effects on all aspects of my life. Self-esteem, relationship, and career. I want to use this forum to help myself and others to get a hold of this powerful drug called porn.

I believe each and every one of us knows deep down that we deserve better, our body deserves, our soul deserves, our friends and family deserve better.

I know porn casts a dark and heavy shadow but believe me when I say we will overcome this by loving ourselves and forgiving ourselves

Hey BlackPanther,

Welcome to this forum! You will find that it is an amazing source of information but most of all compasion and understanding!
We're all in this together. We might not have the same backgrounds/fetishes/interests but we are/were all hooked on the same junk: Porn.

Regarding your specific process; what actions have you taken thusfar? And do you have insights in your triggers and when you experience them?
Answering these questions (if you've not done so already) will definately help you in understanding your behaviour and tackling addiction

I hope to read more of you the coming time!

Good luck,

I'm rooting for you.

Day - 0

Thank you all for the support @KittyHawk @ShadeTrenicin @Orbiter
Unfortunately, I was not able to go beyond day 0. This made me realize that I really don't know my triggers and I don't have processes in place to fight back. So these are things that I need to work on. Once I figure it out I will post it here.

There is miracle in every new beginning
- Hermann Hesse (german writer)

May this quote be your guide with every fresh start.

Cutting PMO down from 1 to 0 is hard. It gets you aware of how difficult the struggles with PMO really are. And, from experience i have to tell you, in the beginning there will be some truths not everyone wants to face. About you, about the addiction. But, after time you will realize that what you do is good and right. So, hold on to it and remind yourself of the miracles that will come!

Hey man, no worries. The start is difficult and relapses are a part of recovering.

As you said, there is little insight in your triggers and that there are no processed in place to defend yourself so to speak.
Read through the other topics to get some inspiration for dealign with these things.

If i can make a suggestion;

1. Recognize the urge to PMO
2. Allow the urge to simply exist ( you cannot force it away) just let it be
3. Investigate WHY the urge is there. Is there something inside of you that makes you want to resort to PMO?
4. Realize that your urge is only temporary
5. Recall the feeling of emtyness after a PMO wank.
6. (optional if the urge is really strong) Resort to a sort of emergency activity such as sports a chore around the house or a hobby that gives you pleasure

Good luck man!

I think a big part of this journey we're on is self-discovery. When an individual uses a habit or addiction to escape a problem, they never learn to understand much less find solutions to it. Understanding triggers, feelings buried below the surface and the underlying reasons we do the things we do comes with this and though relapses are unfortunate (i've had more than I could even count) if we learn from them it brings us not only closer to breaking this terrible habit but hopefully we'll also grow from what we've become into the sort of person we ultimately want to be.

Wishing you the best of luck. Don't forget to watch out for the chaser effect over the next week or so.
