You can, but don't thing about it in terms if "if I stop for this long it will be all better." This is not a cut that heals after a week. This is something that takes more time for some than it does for others. The best way to approach it is to just say that you are never going to engage in artificial sexual stimulation again, and then focus on how you change over time.
