Be patient.  Be easy on yourself.  Do some research, followed by reflection on how it will apply to your life.  If it doesn't happen overnight, then don't worry.  If it did happen over night, then it was never actually an addiction.  Heck, I don't think I could give up things I'm NOT addicted to instantly.  It took me years of wanting to quit before I really came up with how I was going to do it.  Read through some journals and some back posts.  Post more here if you have more specific stories or questions.  I'm afraid I can't give you a one size fits all answer from a two phrase post, but engage us in conversation and we'll help.
