My Success Story (Age 26) - 120+ Days PMO Free

Hello!

I just want to say that I'm officially 4 months clean and that I can't see myself ever watching porn again.

To provide you with some context, I'd spent around 5 years trying to figure out how to beat this thing, and ultimately two things happened which helped me gain control over my addiction, almost overnight.

For starters, I had a breakdown in front of my partner about my mental health. Which was significant, because it meant that I could actually talk about my porn addiction with her and not hide it any longer, so I could ask for support when I needed it, rather than leave it to chance.

This lead to discovering meditation. Following the breakdown, I decided I was going to take my mental health seriously, and do absolutely everything within my power to change. Within two weeks of meditating daily, I'd gained more control over my porn addiction than I did in the last five years doing everything else.

In fact, within the first few sessions of meditation I had that lightbulb moment of "OMG everything makes sense" and I knew that I would never watch porn ever again, because I now had the ability to influence my mind. It's now been four months, and I've maintained those exact feelings of ease and confidence.

I haven't thought about porn since. I have no desire to watch porn or masturbate. I wouldn't even do it if you put it in front of me. And I know it's because I have healthy coping mechanisms in place to prevent me from ever getting to that point.

I've written more about my journey on my website, if you'd like to read more:

Ultimately, what I've discovered is that porn recovery is impossible unless if you have control over your emotions. Willpower and discipline alone will not get you anywhere, because our emotions fluctuate and change, especially when we're experiencing withdrawals, which directly influences our willpower.

On the other hand, if you can gain control over your emotions, you'll more-or-less be a-ok, assuming you're consistent with your practice.

Also happy to answer any questions!

Hi!

There's a lot of things I do, but the predominant thing I do is remain calm. I think the main thing is that a lot of people are almost afraid of their emotions, as if feeling sad or frustrated is cause for self-harm. The fact is that these emotions are a fact of life, and can be healthy. What isn't healthy is how we react to them.

I highly recommend taking up something like meditation. It's close to 90% of the strategy and that's because it works beautifully.

Congrats, man! By the way, you mentioned meditation to settle the urges down, but it's pretty hard to calm down when the emotions are intense... What else do you recommend besides meditating?
