I have lurked on this forum for a year or two, but never posted. I have tried rebooting a number of times but always fail. But I feel I should share my experience honestly and openly with others to try and help them avoid the mistakes I have made.
I am doing well with my recovery now, I am 32 days clean, but this is due to the shock I had which started off my latest attempt.
I was/am addicted to PMO. After losing my job I found myself facing a 3 month period where I was home alone all day and this led to my problem spiraling out of control. My sessions would extend from 8:30am when my wife left for work, through to lunch time. After a brief pause for some lunch, I would find myself returning to it again, often until 4pm or so. Effectively a whole day of edging, day after day, with a couple of O's thrown in.
This continued for around 6 weeks until one morning I had the shock of my life when I saw blood in my toiler after passing stools. This continued for a few days and was quickly followed by stomach pain which continued pretty much all day every day, albeit mild. After 2 weeks I went to the docs who conducted some routine tests and then referred my for some further ones.
To cut a long story short, after coming clean with various health professionals (very embarassing) they concluded that my lengthy PMO sessions have caused:
1) Several large internal hemarroids
2) A peptic ulcer in my stomach (from the fairly intensive O's I was having after a long time edging)
3) Diverticular disease and diverticulitis - a result of the same
I am now facing an operation to stop problems caused by 2 and 3 above, and all because I abused my body in such a RIDICULOUS way.
I am not sharing this to scare people, or make them feel bad, I am sure normal PMO routines/frequency dont result in this (the internet tells you as much) but I am also sure more and more people may be developing a tendancy to have longer and longer PMO sessions, and my message is this - DONT DO IT - STOP NOW. Even if your PMO habit continues, whatever you do, dont spend the amount of time I ended up spending on this awful addiction. It genuinely can cause you harm.
Hopefully I am on the road to recovery. There is nothing like a shock like this to make you realise how stupid you have been, and how addicted you were. 40+ days is my record and I have every intention of never going back to PMO. Ever.
