I quit marijuana. I'm cured now!

I'm finally cured after months of struggling with lack of libido/erections, and rebooting with a couple of relapses. It turns out that it wasn't the porn and masturbating that was the problem. It was weed.

I am still glad I rebooted because it has enhanced my sexual sensitivity, but the weed was the main problem. I didn't think smoking pot was the cause because I had done so for years without noticing a change in libido. However, just a few days after quitting pot, my erections are better than ever and my libido is improving a lot every day, even though I have masturbated to porn twice in the last week, including yesterday.

I believe that weed lowered my testosterone levels, which hurt my libido. Also, weed can affect your blood vessels and circulation. I felt weak, insecure, and could not build muscle anymore at the gym, even though I used to gain muscle easily. I believe that for some people, porn may be the problem, but if you are using any drugs, QUIT. I strongly encourage you to continue your reboot unless you see a dramatic improvement after quitting drugs, as I have. Good luck

I often wonder if over a decade of daily puffing was partly responsible for my eventually going on TRT. Whilst there is still a lot of conflicting info, THC has been shown to decrease test levels by up to 65% in monkeys and long term administration has shown reduced sexual activity in other animals.

Levels usually return to normal after 24 hours but I had always smoked another by that time, so I speculate that it was very rarely given the chance to normalise over those 10+ years. Maybe it just never bounced back.

Interestingly, test can be initially spiked by up to 600% by THC but then falls lower than before. This may explain the 'aphrodisiac' effect reported by many and the fact that many tests contradict each other (depending on when the reading was taken).

I'm sorry but this makes no sense to me. When I get high I get extremely horny and it seriously helps me ignore my PA and PIED. When I'm not high I don't get random erections, when I'm high I do, when I'm high I can have successful sex 100% of the time, when I'm sober I have problems sometimes.

Granted I also only smoke 3-4 times a week I'm not a total stoner. I guess maybe things just effect people differently?

Not trying to rain on your parade man but this just literally makes no sense to me...

Why would it not make sense that a massive initial spike in testosterone would increase your libido?

I'll try and find the study. It was interesting - lower doses were observed to keep the libido spike but with less of a hormonal 'crash' after. I was smoking 1-2 grams literally every day which is a fair bit and in animals it was prolonged exposure that lowered observed sexual activity.

But the science is still pretty fuzzy. There is an apparent link but it is ambiguous and contradictory. Anecdotally, a few beers in the afternoon also make me horny, but then I want to sleep after a while - likely a different chemical mechanism but a similar analogy.

Have you tried quitting pot for a week or so? As an update, I still have no libido or erection problems! I have only smoked once in the last month. I will probably continue to smoke, but only once every few weeks. Best of luck to you.

In General, weed is just bad for you all-round. There are many physical and mental health problems in life which are probably caused by long-term pot smoking. I smoked a lot of pot during my highschool and college years. I saw some of my friends eventually lose their minds because of it, and they ended up living in a psychiatric hospital for a while! All you pot smokers out there who preach it to be healthy and good for you - you're not thinking straight.

Big well done on quiting marijuana! Wise decision.

Yea I agree with you. Weed does more harm than good! The "high feeling" just clouds your judgement. I smoked weed A LOT during college and every time I had sex I was usually high. Then once my addiction was getting worse and I was going without sex being high would ALWAYS be the cause of my PMO! I mean we all know it feels good to bust while high but for me it spiraled out of control and I wish I could take it all back!

Also I too knew a couple of guys who went crazy from smoking too much weed in college! The change in their personalities was very weird, and one had to leave school and go on watch because he felt the Government tapped his phone and kept breaking it smh.

Weed effects dopamine system like any other drug  prolonged or chronic use will cause downregulation of dopamine receptors causing withdrawl when discontinued... luckily this seems to bounce back with stopping weed after sometime

The idea of quitting weed, in addition to or as an alternative to quitting PMO, is a compelling one. I've often considered it. But how do you rationalize this theory when there are hundreds of thousands of people (if not millions) out there who smoke daily and have perfectly normal and very active sex lives?

In my opinion, the many people I know who smoke weed daily and have tons of sex outweigh the occasional negative study on limited biomarkers and a limited sample size (such as the one posted immediately before my comment).

For what it's worth, I stopped smoking for 3 months while on NoFap, and I observed no sexual improvement. Would love for your theory to be true, but I'm skeptical.

Weed in combo with a porn addiction is the issue.  Its dopamine overload. You have to quit both. Then get brain chemistry back in balance.  Plus I found when I quit weed I was more motivated social and driven but that took like 6-7 months to get there. I smoked daily for 10 years

I smoked daily for a few years too. It killed all my motivation. I was a mess. Just laying on the sofa, high on marijuana and watching films or porn all day - waste of a life.

Weed has always had the exact opposite effect on me (increased motivation in all tasks and social confidence), so I'm conflicted.

Oh nice!, I wish it gave me energy and motivation. It is true that weed affects some people completely differently than others. A friend of mine got so badly mentally affected by it that he developed 'paranoid induced schizophrenia' and started hearing voices, believing crazy delusions and turned completely mad. Whereas some people can smoke weed every day all their lives and it will just make them feel great and energized, hah. Oh, I've just remembered an awesome night I spent with a girl when I was in my teens, I was high on marijuana and it was a great night, my stamina was amazing, it felt great.

Speaking of marijuana, I relapsed on a lot of things recently, including porn and marijuana. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Not good.
