So I come here for support for my Porn addiction and lately I'm finding that its becoming more of an Avenue for religious fanatics.  I'm here for support  and to support other guys who have finally found a forum they can relate to.  I'm not here to have the Bible forced on me !  If you want to talk about  "God".. go to church!

Re: previous post. . Because of this post from a moderator I've decided to leave this site today and delete my profile.  To allow Catholic fanatics to use this forum a platform to poison the minds of young men suffering from an addiction is just wrong!  We feel guilty enough without that bullshit!

The message they sent me was:

"I'm sorry that offends you, but one of the founding principles of the forum is to allow others to express their faith as they see fit.

LTE"

I wish you all best of luck in your struggle.

Another quote and response from same Moderator. .

As I said, we allow people to express their beliefs or lack of belief as they see fit as long as they don't ridicule others. If that offends you, by all means leave.

I guess the truth hurts!
I will be seeking support from another source.
Best of luck guys!  :)

TBH, I noticed this tendency also. I just let it roll off my back, and don't address it to much.  A lot of the advice given here is still valid and well intentioned in my mind.

Good luck in your travels.

Hey Nifty,

One of the things that is very, very difficult to do for those struggling (both partners and the SO's) is to let go of trying to control everything. I embody this struggle, heck I may be the middle-aged lady poster child for trying to control things. The thing is we can't.

That all being said, trying to stop PMO is more than just quitting a habit. There are/were reasons it was part of your life. Chances are one of those reasons is control. Interacting with people is messy and they are just too much to deal with sometimes, but learning to deal with them is somewhat safe here if you can let go of some control over what you expect from people.

Some find great comfort in surrendering their lack of control to a higher power of belief. That may not be for you, but it doesn't mean you need to discount everything and just run away.

LTE is a very good moderator. He's (I think he's a he) has been very supportive and has some pretty good insights.

Maybe you can wait awhile as you heal and can release some of that control? I am not saying agree with everyone, just let them be themselves while you discover who Nifty is without the illusion of control from PMO?

Try?

Kind regards for what ever path you follow

I AGREE, challenged!  I am here looking for any help I can get.  We all get through this in our own way and attacking someone is not helping anyone, just creating hard feelings.

This site is to be a haven for everyone trying to recover from porn addiction or porn-induced dysfunctions.

Freedom to express your personal beliefs, not force them, is a founding principle of this forum.

The atheist is free to state their beliefs or what helped him. The person with other beliefs is free to state their beliefs or what helped them.

This is a free forum. You are NOT being forced to click on any links, and you are free to exit out of a page if you don't agree or believe what someone else is saying.

Personal attacks will not be tolerated here. Ridiculing others for their faith, or their lack of faith will not be tolerated here. Pretty simple.

Wish you all the best NiftyAddict.

If I may chime in . . .

I have no use for anyone ridiculing another for matters of faith, or ridiculing someone that chooses not to believe. I was raised in a large religious family and spent many years rebelling against what I perceived as hypocrisy in some of the people at church. Nevertheless, after years away from my parent's denomination I am still a believer, believe in the Creator and I study and believe in the bible. I am not affiliated with any denomination and never will be. I believe that faith in a Creator is a very personal thing and my fellowship is limited to a handful of close friends with whom I feel comfortable. That's my take, I'm not saying it's the right way, I'm just saying it's my way.

I received a report of a post where someone had expressed thanks to the Dather, son and holy spirit for their success. That is their business, their expression and their right, to do so. If someone else chooses a secular reason for their success I will support their right to express that equally. Never will I allow anyone to attack another on this forum for their beliefs or lack thereof. If someone has a completely secular viewpoint that is their right and I will not sanction anyone attacking that right. My answer to this reported post was copied to this thread so theirs no need to reiterate my reply.

I will state this, from years of experience on other forums. Mutual respect and tolerance are a must. I have seen forums collapse into very unpleasant places because of disrespect for the views of others. I want everyone to be comfortable here. This is a place where anyone that wants help with porn and/or masturbation problems can come. Richard Dawkins would be welcome, so would the Pope, but both of these men would be held to the same standards which is to say that they cannot ridicule others on the forum.

SORP: The last time I checked I was a male. I just finished a carbonated beverage so I'll probably be in a position to check again soon. If anything has changed I'll let everyone here at RN know . . . right away! :)
