Hi guys.
I want to reboot to have a sexual life and have good sex but, i can live without watching porn, but i dont think i can live without masturbating.
Do you know if it is 100% prohibited??

If you watch the videos on Reboot Nation you will see that the only rule is "no artificial stimulation of any kind"  so simple masturbation is ok but keep in mind that you can over do this as well!

I masturbated too much when I was younger and then lead to porn etc ... if you are not in a relationship keep the  frequency down (I am aiming for once a month max during my reboot) you will find you are hornier and more energised!

Good luck mate, 67

There are many misconceptions in the porn addiction recovery community about what the problem is, and one of the biggest misconception is that the problem is about anything other than using artificial sexual stimulation to achieve a brain reaction.  This problem is 100% a brain problem.  So, understand, while it looks like MO is a physical act, it is actually a physical act that results in the brain reaction, the brain reaction being a dopamine high.  It is impossible to MO, or to become aroused, without getting that dopamine high; in fact, the arousal you feel when MOing IS the dopamine rush, it is the dopamine rush we become addicted to, porn is just the needle we inject ourselves with.

After you have rebooted, take time then to ask who and what you want to be.  But, during the reboot, avoid the dopamine rush completely, and that means not only no P, but no MO as well.

Agreed.  There are occasional pieces of evidence that MO with P is okay for rebooting, but they are rare.  And, some of those accounts are not what I would call good success, as while they quit porn, they still retain many porn addiction symptoms.

Masturbating can actually be beneficial to the reboot, it was for me. It helped me rewire to the pleasure of masturbation itself, not to some dirty pixels on a screen. Plus having a wank got me out of a flatline or two

If porn is the issue then porn is the issue, not masturbation. I will say this, ejaculation can make you feel tired and even depressed. It is possible to masturbate without ejaculating and preserve your MOJO. Also it is possible to masturbate and stay in a parasympathetic seratonin state rather than just seeking the dopamine hit.

you talk about edging? that is the bigger problem than ejaculation. edging is what got us fucked up this much. if we all just went all the way every time it would be better. now everything is out of the question but edging is still worse than just ejaculating. im talking about PMO/MO. also who does edging without ejaculation? come on, just masturbating and thats it? also just masturbating without porn or fantasy? as an ex porn addict? come on. how long you could do that before binging. just a question of time.

I've benefited greatly from not masturbating, have no urge to do so anymore. I would recommend against it for the following reasons:

-Masturbation decreases androgen receptors and increases estrogen receptors in the brain, this has been verified by research. I'm pretty happy being male and don't really want to be more feminine.
-It will decrease sexual energy and sexual satisfaction in a real relationship, so masturbating is like eating junk food before a fancy dinner, better to save yourself for your partner.
-It will also gradually numb you physically, you'll be much more physically sensitive if you don't masturbate.
-Many people, including myself, have also experienced greater ambition, drive, etc., when not masturbating. I believe masturbation can decrease general energy, not just sexual energy.
-If you refrain from M you'll be in the habit of being in control of yourself sexually, which is great.
-Almost every study ever done on masturbation has found that masturbation correlates with lower sexual, relationship, and life satisfaction, and the few people who don't masturbate at all score much higher in these areas.

more sexual satisfaction in real relationship, more physically sensitive, more energy, more in control, higher satisfaction in general. pretty logical and experiential but the first thing is confusing, more estrogen? does that mean that sex also increases estrogen? when you compare sex to MO, of course MO decreases sexual relationships and satisfaction in life but Oing is still happening so does estrogen gets higher even after regular sex?

My comment was a bit of a simplification. There's a YBOP article that explains it in full.

I agree with this so much because it's happened to me: I had been masturbating already before finding porn. I don't think I can masturbate in a healthy way, I would end up abusing this as well, to get that "high". That's why I decided to quit masturbation as well. Also, I don't think I could ever again masturbate without porn or fantasizing about porn, I'm too hooked. I can't speak from a scientific point of view, only through how I feel.
