Why so few success stories?

The "Success Stories" sub forum on here, and on yourbrainrebalanced, is one of the areas with the least traffic. I'm not doubting that porn has caused my ED, or for anyone else, but why aren't there more success stories from no PMO? A few things come to my mind, but I'm relativity new here and want to know what others think.

I agree. I wonder if many people who have success just fade away and don't stay connected--not bothering to pass the torch to the next new guy. I also think they are lots of guys struggling to get to their success story, so may not be at a place to write yet. I posted mine last week because I thought the same thing. http://legacy.rebootnation.org/index.php?topic=4018.0

Great post man, I enjoyed reading it. Congrats on your recovery! I wish more guys with success stories would post a simple, easy to read outline of pointers, and things that helped them like you did.

It had occurred to me that people who succeed may simply fade away. Perhaps those that succeed do so as part of a bigger, life improving journey that takes them away from porn, the internet, and keeps them busy with real life.

I am relatively new here as well but do enjoy analizing things like this and because I have had some big success fairly quickly with this program one reason may be that people are genuinely here to help and may not want to start a bragging page. I did post about the things that have already started going right for me but even in my post I mention that I almost didn't just for the fact that when I read it back to myself it sounded like I was tooting my own horn a little.

Another reason may be that even with the continued success people have from no PMO it is still very easy to fall off of the bandwagon and have all the previously achieved success feel like it was flung out of the window in a moment of weakness. Many people don't want to set themselves up for failure here where they can come for support and feel good about their progress. Then post to much about how successful they have been only to come crawling back hoping someone out there will still be willing to help them if they need it again down the road.

I see it like this, When you go to a twelve step meeting and the ones that stand up to tell there story and admit that they have relapsed don't sound near as confident and some (most) sound ashamed that the urge overcame them, even momentarily when they really do yearn for the clean and sober lifestyle.

I think people are proud of themselves as they gain days and feel the benefits of turning their lives into something better for themselves but they also see how easy it is to hit a wall or relapse so maybe they are hesitant because even though they are doing great the fear that it all comes tumbling down still lurks in the back of the mind.

I think the fading away thing is part of it.  I also think that perhaps some people who have had some success don't want to publicly declare it, because of the feeling that they might not be completely healed, or they realize it can be a lifelong struggle.  If you're the superstitious type, you might think "I don't want to jinx it," or if you're more philosophical or spiritual, you might think of it as "pride goeth before a fall."  Or perhaps others don't want to feel like they are boasting -- even though I don't think any of us would see it that way.

I know I had some very quick success in terms of curing my ED issues once I reduced and then eliminated porn, but didn't post it because (1) I wasn't sure if it was a temporary victory over PIED, (2) I didn't want to feel like I deserved any credit given my past usage, and (3) I didn't want to make guys who were not seeing results with PIED feel bad that I seemed to recover so quickly.  And also, I do feel like I could slip back any moment, and so to some degree I don't feel like I've had complete success.

LOL.  I posted when danger was posting, and I see he and I had some of the same thoughts.    8)

I agree, from my experience many who do recover seem to just disappear from the forums as they start getting noticeable signs of recovery

A lot of people write daily about their struggles and their triumphs, but I'd imagine writing a success story takes a lot of thought. I hope to write mine, but it will be something I copy and paste in from Word and it will take a while. I can understand why some guys would reach their goal and just soar off into freedom.

Yeah, according to Gabe there are WAY more lurkers on this website than members....by a substantial margin. So a lot of people who "recover" don't even have a single post to their name! Like you guys said before, even many members recover and just slowly disappear, phasing recovery websites out of their life.

I will say, though, that at least 2-3 recovery stories come out a week from the various pornography recovery websites on the web. Usually it's more than this, too. The best place to look for recovery stories is the front page of yourbrainonporn.com!

Here is their database of recovery stories if any of ya'll are interested. Nearly 2,000 of them!

I will admit, the more I recover from this problem the more I stay away from this site.  I can see it being really easy for people to just fade away like that.

We had to start a new page for rebooting accounts, because the system couldn't handle it -
http://yourbrainonporn.com/rebooting-accounts-2

Then we have 8 pages of shorter ED recovery stories we have collected -

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/erectile-recover-1

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/erectile-recovery-2

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/ed-recovery-stories-III

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/ed-recovery-stories-4

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/ed-recovery-stories-5

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/ed-recovery-stories-6

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/ed-recovery-stories-7

http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/ed-recovery-stories-8

I get emails all the time from guys who have recovered. They ask questions, but they never publish a success story. YBOP can get 20,000 or more unique visitors per day. That's more than the combined membership of YBR and RebootNation. There are a lot of lurkers.
