I've only just subscribed to this forum, but I'm wondering if we could get a perma flatline thread going. All the info to help people out, then discussion.

The flatline is basically a physical and (or) mental complete lack of interest in sex. You don't feel aroused by women, and your penis is generally lifeless and inactive. No morning wood, difficulty getting erections alone or with a partner...all of these are apart of the "flatline". Essentially, it's just a state of total no desire in sex, physically and mentally. Flatlines come in many different forms, though, and you will most likely know when you hit one. Some people feel only a lifeless, inactive penis, while they mentally feel into sex - some people are the inverse! Additionally, others have actually felt like they've been in a flatline even before quitting pornography (they were still masturbating to pornography even though it was completely draining out their libido).

Again, it's more than likely you will know when the flatline hits. I think a lot of people fear the flatline and have anxiety about it, but, honestly...I found a sense of relief in the flatline because I knew that (1) my brain was recovering and (2) my urges were totally under control.

There are lots of resources out there to help you learn about the flatline! Have you guys thought about buying Gary Wilson's book Your Brain on Porn? It seriously covers basically everything you need to know about pornography addiction and PIED. It describes essentially every phenomenon you can go through during a reboot, and it has user accounts and the most up to date science. I really wish it was out when I kicked off my reboot. Here is the link to the eBook: http://www.amazon.com/Your-Brain-Porn-Pornography-Addiction-ebook/dp/B00N2AH8NW

But, if you aren't interested in purchasing something, the website yourbrainonporn.com has essentially everything you need to know...it's just a little more scattered. Check it out!

It s really helpful for the reboot, you almost don t feel any urge, even if you fantasize a little bit. It s actually so powerful that my only worries is that if it disappear, i wonder if will still be able to face the urges.

Definitely! I've read a lot of accounts where people feel similarly. The nice thing is that during your flatline you are learning what day-to-day life is without porn and you are getting a grasp on how to handle it. I'm sure with a little discipline and awareness you will be prepared and fine, friend!  8)

Thanks Fugu, I really do believe that it s indeed very useful to learn how to live without our addiction.

As it happens, I had some questions regarding the flatline:

_ can we consider that experiencing the flatline is in itself a sign that the reboot is working, that your brain starts his long path to recover ? that the brain porn paths are being killed a little bit more each day ?

_ have you ever heard about a successful reboot without any flatline ?

thanks for your help !
