Broadcasting to the Nation,

I would just like to question the wonderful people here if they have confided in someone during their reboot. Also if they could note the degree of difference, this has made personally for them.

The reason I ask you guys, is because I too am considering coming from the dark and confiding in a dear friend of mine whose had his bouts with p too and has pretty much recovered. Also my friends personality would be resourceful in the sense that he's positive, compassionate and very attuned to his emotions.

Would love to see what everyone's thoughts are on this. Thank you all for reading/responding.

EDIT: I attached a poll for people who'd rather quickly respond.

Yes most definitely it has been a big help. I have my wife who I confided in early, 2 pastors that have been very compassionate and supportive, a real life friend who has been battling against porn for 10 years, and a phone support friend. Plus the men I know through the forum like LTE!

Telling real people broke the "dark secret" and took away it's power. Accountability is less of a concern for me, but a sense of we are in this battle together... you know "brotherhood" that feels good!

it certainly helps to have someone in your life to confide in for this
kind of thing

Yes, definitely. A lot of the irritability, mood swings etc I didn't want my parents to think I was a nut job or a troublemaker etc among other things, its a good feeling when you get it off your chest, you take a lot of shame and guilt away from it.

I've been able to avoid pornography for over 1.5 years, and MUCH of this is due to being able to confide in my roommate. The Internet is terrific, but someone in real life who knows and understands your problems is amazing and crucial
