Will I EVER REGAIN the Neurotransmitters that I lost during porn use?( By Nofap)

So engagemnt in porn depletes Neurotransmitters in your brain(in this case a neurotransmitter called D2).

I am suffering from Depersonalization/Derealization and it is caused by low Neurotrasnimitter levels..  I am quite sure that it happened after I started using porn because I probably lost a good ton of Neurotransmitters during my use of porn.

My question is, after I fully recover from NoFap, will my Neurotransmitter levels get back to normal?  This questions is so important to me right now and I would be so thank ful for anyone who can shed some light upon this topic!

Let me put it this way.

From what I gather about the biology of addiction, you do not lose anything. You reprogram your brain.

That's not really "merely" because this reprogramming is serious and when started young (like many guys here, myself included) it goes real deep and, well, holds as if this is the "real deal", it becomes your real biology.

But that is reversible. And your brain can change. Not only can it get back to the previous healthy state (which you might not have ever reached if you started out young) and back learn from scratch. Just keep rebooting. That's all you can do. Never stop rebooting.

Thank you! Appriceate that! :)

I wont man.. wont ever stop rebooting.

Any more ideas or answers? Would really be glad to hear them..

Yes you will get your D2 transmitters back
but nobody knows , when they will come back. because every one is different.
but instead of thinking about D2 , just keep your focus on the progress and reach 100 day goal.

The changes in brain are reversible
d2 are made from proteins.
your body would have made d2 if it needed till now
but it doesn't works like that
kill your brain numbness and your d2 will be back
I will post links after doing more detailed research.
this is interesting topic to research on.

OP, it's much more complex than "getting your neurotransmitters back". The d2 dopamine receptor is actually largely involved in preventing over-release of dopamine, and your claim that your D2 receptors are low doesn't really mean anything.

Anyway, porn use largely results in dopamine receptor densities getting decreased (although there is much more at play here, gluaminergic function is impacted quite severely as well), as far as I know there is no real serious, irreversible "damage" to the dopaminergic neurons - although that does occur naturally as we age as a result of free radicals, oxidization, inflammation, etc.

Some supplements may help your process along. I'd strongly suggest uridine monophosphate or cdp-choline as a starting place as they both appear to cause long term dopamine receptor upregulation.

It's all in the wonder that is neuroplasticity. That's the whole approach of this forum, is to 'reboot' the brain back to it's factory settings regarding our reward/pleasure center.

The brain can change itself, can heal and rewire toward its normal seeking of pleasure in real life, rather than in fantasy and pixelization.

A very interesting topic  here  I wonder what a neurotransmitter even looks like

Whatever the biology behind it  I can say they must come back or reset  because after my 100 days of no porn  I could feel the difference.  I am able to make more rational decisions  my perception seems to be a bit better.  And after 3 years of fighting this addiction (long story short  porn consumption levels were a gradual  drop  2 levels down 1 level up 2 levels down ... some  experienced rebooters will know what I talking about 0    I really began to see the world through a different lens.  I suppose the neurotransmitter are probably always there  its the information  that is going through  that changes

    cheers

Post often it helps me it helps you
