Unusually angry

Hey there people. I'm currently 95 days into reboot and seeing some improvement. Something that is of concern to me is I'm getting very irritable and short fused over very little things, I did have anger issues as a teen and managed to get a lid on it with help and my recent temper is causing me to worry its so out of the blue I lost a potential partner by reacting badly to a text and I was wondering if this is a part of reboot as most of the time I'm calm these days

Most likely. I've been experiencing the same issues. Mine comes in waves. With time it'll improve.

Yeah...

Sometimes on these boards guys want quitting porn to be a magic elixir.  Don't get me wrong, porn addiction is the root of many, many problems.  But, addictions often exist because we're self medicating other issues.  I'd think of it this way: instead of going to a doctor and getting a prescription that would help you manage your anger/temper, you used porn as your "medication".  Quitting any med, especially abruptly, has consequences.  As you're coming off that med, you're having those symptoms return.  Going back on that "med" isn't an option, so what is the new treatment going to be?  I'm not a therapist so I don't know.  You probably know the options better than I do, but exploring those will give you a pro-active way of dealing with it besides white knuckling it and eventually relapsing.  Sometimes just looking up "how to deal with anger/temper issues" on google or YouTube can be really fruitful.

Addiction recovery is quite a journey, and one where we learn an awful lot about ourselves that we never knew.  It can also be very rewarding.  Good luck!

Hi.

Hey Mike, angry comes from anxiety so I think it's a great idea to deal with sport, meditation and both. It's the best medication to that.
doneatlast is right?try Youtube videos to deal with anger/temper isuues. It's a great idea.
Cheers!

I will do as suggested look on YouTube and get some books to help I also go to the gym and find that helpful too

Good to hear!  For the sake of clarity, I was using "medication" as a metaphor to talk about porn, and as a generalized term for any treatment, not necessarily endorsing the idea of getting a prescription (though I don't have strong feelings against that if that is the best course of action).

Good luck.  We all have issues that we thought went away with porn, but really just festered.  Anger isn't mine... mine is anxiety, self-loathing, sensitivity, and very acute loneliness.  It was all there as a porn addict doing all the same damage, I just was numb to it.  I feel the pain of it more with porn gone, but it also means I can genuinely heal it instead of ignoring it.
