55 with a new lease on life

Hi everyone, I just learned about RN from a post on www.FightTheNewDrug.org.  SO glad to find this community of others seeking a new path!  Can't wait to share about this with others in my recovery community, here in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

I've been a porn and sex addict since my early teens.  I took that addiction into my marriage, which led to a 25-year double life of compulsive porn use, masturbation, lying, sneaking and shame.  I later escalated into hiring sex workers, losing all control and self-esteem, and nearly losing my marriage, 'til I finally decided to get sober in 2012.  It wasn't easy -- but the last seven years have been the best of my life.  I got help and support, both from therapists and from fellow recovering addicts.  I rebuilt my relationship, and got back in touch with my emotions.  I'm happy to say that, after 30 years, my marriage is doing better than ever -- and our sex life improved DRAMATICALLY.  Turning away from porn -- and all empty, artificial sexuality -- was the smartest decision I've ever made.

I'll be posting more about my story and how I made it to this point.  If there's ANY way my journey can be of help to you all, it helps me as well.  A deep and heartfelt thanks to Gabe and the RN team for making this all possible.
