What's the difference

OK, I've got a question.  Is there a difference (in severity, etc) between masturbating to still photos as opposed to porn videos.  After all, didn't we all look at Playboy when we were young men?

Thanks in advance for replying.

I agree with dypt that looking at still pictures on line is likely to cause you to start looking for videos.

Also, I think the difference between magazines and the internet is significant. Even if you had an extensive collection of magazines, the volume and variety of pictures would be tiny compared with the infinite supply available instantaneously on the internet at the click of a mouse. As I understand it, the constant stimulation of fresh, porn pictures that we?ve never seen before feeds into our reward circuits and fuels the addiction. So whether they are moving or still pictures probably makes little difference. Our poor brains haven?t changed much from those of our ancestors living on the savannah so it?s may be no surprise that we struggle when we can see more sexy things in 3 minutes on a screen than they would have seen in their entire lives!
Good luck, in what ever way you choose to do your reboot.

Definitely a gateway to videos.  I wouldn't recommend it.  For those of us who grew up in the 80s or before, we mostly only had pictures available, and for me at least, that was enough to form the basis of an addiction that has been a problem for me for the last 20+ years.

Good luck to you.  Stay strong.  If you fall down, get up, don't wallow in it.  I'm on day 31 PMO free, and if you'd asked me a month ago, I would have said it was impossible.  Literally impossible.  But it isn't.

When you are just starting, the pictures open the door to videos for sure. We are not talking 80's here. Magazines don't compare to Internet. I don't think that someone who starts looking at pictures today, will stay at pictures and not escalate to videos.

When you are already an addict, pictures are how the brain tries to convince you to go back to the poison. "Just look at some pictures cause they are not as powerful as videos."

Ok, so if you are talking about right now as an addict NO there isn't any difference, if you are talking about being adolescent looking at a playboy mag versus a porn video YES.

But right now, and unfortunately  I'm an expert on this shit. It's whatever gets you off, it doesn't matter, plain and simple. I've often mo to images rather than videos because I couldn't find what I was "searching for."  I've grown to understand the concept that it's whatever is giving you that dopamine kick is what you must eliminate. Images, videos, staring at women public throwing that image in the spankbank. It's all garbage.

I agree with this. Everything that stimulates that dopamine needs to be eliminated. This is: Porn (of course), Youtube videos, pictures, striptease with clothes on, thinking about porn, thinking about pictures, videos etc.

I would highly recommend reading this book...I have it on my kindle. It will explain the difference between still photos and the unlimited stream of high speed videos and the damaging effect it has on our sex drive, erections and relationships.
