hypnosis to get rid of unwanted fetish

I have been looking at shemale porn now for about 15 years, I'm married with kids and consider myself straight. recently my wife found out about my big secret, I have contacted a psychotherapist who has recommended having hypnosis to get rid of this unwelcome behaviour. I'm not sure if this will help or is the doctor just trying to get some money from me (it is very expensive). I need to get this stuff out of my head for the sake of my marriage. Has anyone else tried hypnosis and what success was there.

Hey Scotsman

I hope by commenting this can create renewed impetus for your topic. I have not tried hypnosis. All I can say is this: in my very personal opinion,  pornography is in itself a form of hypnosis. The definition below is why I believe this.

Hypnosis is defined as: the induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.

For us addicts, watching p can be an involuntary act. So in a sense the definition for hypnosis is not entirely dissimilar to that of addiction if you  search it online. I actually get mesmerised more by the voices and specific p stars than the actual acts depicted. That's why p might have appeared more personal to me, that illusion that I was familiar with those girls by watching them frequently was profoundly ingrained into my brain.

Therefore, I could understand that hypnosis could be a way to help recovery, since it uses the same medium as p: indoctrination. Ultimately it's a question of priorities and personal preference for you.

Hey! I've heard some people having success with hypnosis. I don't think it can hurt if you really want to give it awhirl.

However, I think the best thing to get rid of this is just abstaining from pornography use. Many people report developed fetishes disappearing once they've managed a total reboot.

I think you should go to a Certified Sex Therapist first.

Not all therapist have this distinction. If you have no sexual dysfunction, then that is your best bet.
Keep in mind, most mental health care professionals were never trained to deal with this
problem. Very few out there know the real deal. You may then ask the CST what he/she
thinks about hypnosis.

I second fugu's opinion.
It's common for porn addicts to escalate towards porn that are not in sync with their sexual orientation.
Right now, normal porn is just not a strong enough stimulation for you.
I think you have a very good chance at returning to normal if you reboot.
It will take ~3 months of extreme patience.

I don't know about hypnosis, but I wouldn't do it if I were you,
because I would definitely want to show my wife that I can fix it with my own power.
