Is it okay to speed recovery process?

Hey everyone.. Im new here, just a female started her recovery journey? i wanted to ask u guys, is it okay to speed up the process? I mean for example if u want to lose weight, u have to lose it slowly, its not good to lose for example 10 pounds in one week or even less, is it the same with porn? Or the more u speed up the process the better it get? I hope u understand my question and excuse my language, english is not my mother language. Looking despretly for answers. Thank u guys in advance

I'm not sure what do you mean by speed up the process, but here you aren't dealing with a physical issue, it's a brain problem, (brain thinks porn =your sexual normal interaction) .
Speeding up->How?? going directly for the hard mode 90 days??
-if you speed it up that way it shouldn't be an issue unless you have a serious condition in which abstinence could make it worse(serious depression etc) you should be careful with it
-if you mean sex, then you should make sure you are not having other fantasies while doing so. Otherwise you are just changing your hand for a partner, which is terribly wrong. Love a bit the person while doing it. Feel the other person's body, feel the other person hands'.

I mean that i use a lot of techniques/methods and gaining a mindset to recover faster and faster, by doing that mybe i'll recover in 4 months instead of 8 months.. This is what i mean by speeding up the process
 
There is some anecdotal evidence that mindfulness meditation speeds-up recovery. 
However, meditation is (1) time-consuming; (2) difficult and something you need to work up to.

But yeah, it's okay to do it.
 
I kinda understand what you mean but the truth is no. Your going to have to go through the pain to get back your life dude. Sorry but we've all been there, wondering what can I do to speed up recovery but the answer is nothing. Depending on how bad you were addicted will affect your reboot length. So hang in there and don't give up EVER

In my honest opinion trying to "speed up" a recovery is a recipe for failure. We are trying to learn new habits and new techniques. It takes roughly 30 days of constantly doing a new activity before it starts to truly become a habit. It is also important to not try to add too many new habits at once. It can become difficult to try and make too many changes at once. And if you are like me, and most addicts, once you start to feel the pressure of making too many changes, or start to feel like you are failing in one new habit, you start to get down on yourself. And once you get down on yourself, it's a downward spiral to relapse.

Also, recovery is not a quick fix. It isn''t something you do for a month, or a year, not even five years. Recovery is a lifetime commitment. Sad to say, once an addict, always an addict. That doesn't mean you can't defeat it, it just mean it is something you will always have to be aware of in your life.

As most of the others say, 'speeding up' isn't a thing, because we all want lifelong recovery. Years down the line a challenge still might hit us. The more time you put in, the easier it gets.

But you mention putting in lots of effort towards your recovery,  and that will make things easier. Being on this forum, meditating, exercising, eating well, less alcohol, learning about the science of porn addiction... are all good and will make long term recovery much more likely.

One last thing, after a long period of thinking about the addiction, journaling about it and gritting my teeth in determination to beat this addiction; there came a time when I had to start thinking about it less. this part is tricky, because porn was a problem in my life, and I always have to be aware of how dangerous it can be, but I purposely don't think about porn and recovery too much, because I don't want to focus all my attention on it. I put my focus onto other, lighter, healthier things in life. But I think this last step comes after putting a lot of work in developing healthy habits, reading about how to beat the addiction, getting advice and so on.

My recommendation would be to choose one approach to recovery and commit yourself to it mind, body and soul whilst you do it.

If you try to do 100 things at once you won't be able to fully commit to any of them, so you are less likely to succeed.

Incidentally, addicts tend to be impatient people who want it all NOW (it's why we choose to PMO now - instant relief - rather than choosing longer term solutions to our cravings and difficult feelings) so you may want to think about whether it would be helpful to develop a patient attitude to recovery.

This does take time.  Training the brain is like training the body.  If you enrolled with one personal trainer and trained your body as they suggested, in six months you would look pretty buff.  If you enrolled with 2 and tried to do two training programmes...in six weeks you would just be exhausted and unable to continue!

You guys are right. Speeding up the process is a wrong decison,  at least in my case. I tried to meditate/yoga/exercise/eat healthy/reading books and so on, all in once, and that cause me to fail, only one week and then i became exhausted and drained but thank god i havn't relapsed. So the best thing is to be patient and stick with something until it become a habit, and then move on to another thing. I decided to start with eating healthy and exrcising, whenever that become a habit, i'll start yoga and so on.

Healthy eating and exercise sounds like a good place to start!  Journalling here can be a good idea; it is motivating to share your experience with others.  Also writing in other peoples journals can help develop a sense of community.

Yah u really helped and the tranning example make sense and its true. Patiency is a key. I have a note book where i journal and write eveything on the daily basis. Thank u so much and yes, we all in this together.

I don't agree with this particular point. There is nothing difficult about meditation. You just need to learn to start really small. I've used an app back in the day that talks me through some five minute meditation exercises that worked really well for me. It's called "Calm", and is available for Android devices and iPhone devices as well I think.
Meditation is all about quieting your mind and is essentially training your willpower - and willpower is something you'll need if you want to beat this :)

So yes, eat healthy, exercise, and one other thing: sleep at least eight hours every day. I've been struggling with all kinds of sexual dysfunctions for about two years now because of the porn, and I only started to make real progress when I started making sure that I got enough sleep. Eight hours, every night or as many time as you can manage it will definitely help.

Personally i started with speedy recovery  and i did whatever i could to heal my brain, Now i am taking multivitamin supplements for quick healing ,some relapses are there I don't have patience i want the result.

I still don't understand.. there's no Speedy recovery in the process and since it's a change for life there's no single point in time that you are trying to get to quicker.
