How I quit porn

Hey guys. I'm just gonna be blunt and quick on how I quit porn. I always read that what we need to quit porn is to just resist and act like porn doesn't exist. But that never worked for me. So what I tried to do was have friends put restrictions on my phones and computers but I always found a way around it. So finally I decided to remove any chance of failing. I bought a flip phone that doesn't have Internet, Im throwing my iPhone into the ocean later tomorrow (if you are wondering how I posted this). I already threw 2 iPods into the trash along with all of my computer cords so I can't turn them on anymore. All that I have left is my PS3 with restriction to where I can't open the browser. And if I can't resist from that then I will throw that power cord away too. If I have to use the internet I go to my school library and I can still call and text with my basic phone. People might say wow that's extreme but this is a real addiction, will-power might be enough for some but not for me. A drug addict can't expect to recover if there are easy ways to relapse in his house. So I took extreme steps and threw all the technology away, that way I know it's impossible to give in, even if I want to. I know this isn't very practical but it's a good way to make sure you won't fail :) good luck!

Oh, boy!
Jesus said to the rich man who was following the law, "you still lack one thing, go and sell all you have and give to the poor, then follow me."

What do you still have within you? It is still there. The greatest temptation is one in which we sweat and shake in the presence of a temptation in front of us while not giving in. You simply removed the temptation...which is a noble effort, but you still lack the willpower and reason NOT to practice the habit of viewing porn in its many forms.

Addiction is not from the outside and does not require formulas to win. The area of the brain that makes the decision to give in is small and is the area that dictates our yes or no. The rest of the brain hold our reasoning and data of what can stimulate us.

I think you lack rest and self-esteem and you need brain stimulation in forms that are non sex related. You know what they are, list them and exercise them daily. AND get out there and talk to real people face to face. Put the phone down, the computer down, turn off the tv and get out and interact with others. Its your only hope.
Then that thing within you will not be lacking.

I agree with olafthewise.

I hope the best for you but here is one of my earlier posts :

Porn blocking software will not work. I do not want to be negative, but in my personal experience of dealing with this still and way back in 2013 end and 2014..I just bypassed K9 and chose to look at porn.

You have to make a choice to not look. Change your entire lifestyle/environment/mindset. I am just taking my laptop out of my bedroom for good, and will not put it back in here for anything however I know..moving my laptop is not enough..I have to CHOOSE not to go search and look at it on the internet.

This internet stranger believes you can do it. Millions of people worldwide have successfully quit and healed from addiction, and thousands of guys around the world have quit and successfully healed from porn addiction.

This will be my last post on this internet website forum for a long time. Actions speak louder than typing text. It is clear to me now the "Way out" of porn addiction, is the real world, real life!

Some may find your approach extreme, but I think you are on the right track.  If you look to what the bible recommends it says this in:

Matthew 5:29-30 NKJV,

29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you...
30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you..

If you take what this scripture says literally it sounds kinda extreme, to cut off your hand or pluck out your eye, only a crazy desperate person would take that advice, right...  But what is being said is what you did, you cut off your access to the temptation that causes you to seek porn, fantasy, fapping and the like.  I don't know if your a christian and I am not here to judge or offend anyone regardless of there chosen path, but I am a christian and so my encouragement, strategy and wisdom are all intertwined and will always include scripture.  The next step if you are a christian is to put on your armor as a, "Defensive Strategy" against further temptation.

Ephesians 6:11-18,

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Once you have you armor you need support, so you rally troops to help you fight, which is what you are doing here on RN.  Its always best in a fight to have support for there is strength in numbers.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

9 Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.  But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.  And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

You are not fighting alone my friend, we are here in the trenches fighting beside you.  All I wish is to do is encourage you, no judgements here just sharing some biblical truth and wisdom pertinent to our fight.

It is time to be critical to the Bible thumping Christian who uses quotes to fight something;

History is full of Christians who prayed and quoted scripture and then lost their battles. To the pastor in the past who got rid of all the immodesty in his congregation fought a battle and lost because he was an alcoholic and abusive so his children left the church forever. The gay man in church was beaten as a teen and "exercised" of his demons and still remained gay while ignoring the poor relationship with his own father which was the key to overcoming homosexuality. To the female who was prayed for over and over and her child died anyway as people accused her of sin that she was not guilty of. She also, did not return to church, ever.

Listen people; the devil knows how to empty the church, he knows how to remove our hope. Quoting scripture is a common way to allow people to do nothing proactive with their sin or their responsibilities.
I prayed for years to have God remove my desire for porn. He never did. He wanted me to move first. First prayer then a physical move. I removed my guilt first. (well He did) Then I learned about my brain. Then I fed my brain good stuff. Then I made conscious decisions NOT to view the stuff in many different ways. No two ways are the same all the time. Sometimes I use one method, other times another.

Quoting scripture and expecting the hocus-pokus of God to rescue a lazy Christion from porn is just fantasy. Use the brain God gave you and remember the fallout that porn does to your life. The devil wants all the other (bad) results of porn to happen too. The devil is cunning, smart and relentlessly and tirelessly pervasive in his methods. Remember this and remember that this battle has no cease fire treaty or peace treaty. The battle for your time and mind goes for the rest of your life so suit up and fight the battle and allow the scripture to flow within you as truth not as a rhetorical magic-speech.

You are absolutely right , when you restrict your access to internet , you literaly decrease your chance of running into a TRIGGER.
i did the same thing with my smart phone and tablet , i gave theme all away , and bought a sheap no internet phone , my only access is throw my uncle's old computer , this one only to check on my studies.no TV , no radio . it will take a great effort from us to cleans our brains from years of consuption.

Once something becomes habit, good or bad it takes effort to change it, but putting up fences and building walls is a good place to start, not a solution.  I, like you, took it upon myself to learn and understand everything I could about this issue.  For the last 13 years I've studied and learned and implemented every strategy and weapon in my effort to overcome it.  I also felt at times alone, abandoned and unanswered, but I always came back to me as the weak link in the chain.  God heard everyone of my prayers, but sometimes you have to wander in the dessert for 40 years before your ready to enter the promised land.  For me, I needed a heart change and I finally got it, Praise be to God, I finally got it.

Some good books to read to help for encouragement and understanding better how our minds work are these:

"She Said Yes"  by Misty Bernall

"The Power of Habit"  by Charles Duhigg
http://www.amazon.com/Power-Habit-What-Life-Business/dp/081298160X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1458670806&sr=1-1&keywords=the+power+of+habit
"Everyman's Battle"  by Arterburn & Stoecker
http://www.amazon.com/Every-Mans-Battle-Winning-Temptation/dp/0307457974/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1458670860&sr=1-1&keywords=everymans+battle
"Hope in front of Me"  by Danny Gokey
http://www.amazon.com/Hope-Front-Me-Purpose-Darkest/dp/1612914756/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1458670890&sr=1-1&keywords=hope+in+front+of+me+danny+gokey

Lastly YBOP is a great source of intel as well.  For me, being a christian I can always see God's divine wisdom in science.  Sometimes I don't recognize it right off but once the light bulb goes off I can see, "Ah, that's what that scripture meant!"

I just started my recovery but here is how i see it for the moment: when I feel my brain is urging me to PMO i do something else, most of the times Im at home so: 20 push-ups, some squats and abs then I do something I like such as reading a book I left apart or playing a game I like, playing with my cat, etc..

In three days Ive never been so productive and I hope Ill do it.

Well no. I do not hope to do it. I will do it!

PS: Im not as "extreme" as you with my phone/computer. I just deleted everything and made a choice to not look at it.

I agree with a lot of what you said. As a Christian I prayed for years to God to remove my addiction that I've come to realize that I've got to do it and use what God gave me to do it. He gets all the credit for me doing it though. He has given me everything I need to succeed it's just up to me to do it

I think you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself.  Your attack on Trader22 is unwarranted.  He never once recommended being lazy and the bible expressly states what the scripture is good for instruction so that we are thoroughly equipped; see 2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Congratulations Adikavi, I'm also following a way similar to quit my weird fetishes( you don't wanna know what they are). I used to think that they're just actors paid to do what they're doing on screen. No one can actually get attracted to shit like that. Now that its been a while since I quit porn, I think that did those videos even exist or was it all just my imagination.
